Special Immigrant Visas

I spent most of last week in Washington DC trying to build bipartisan support for the Special Immigrant Visa program ( & ), which will provide 2500 more visas for Afghan translators to move to the United States. We made commitments to those who supported us overseas and we need to honor them.

Thanks to , , and the whole team at and for pulling together a diverse group of veterans from across the country to push this issue. We met with both Democrats and Republicans and while we found a lot of support, there were some that questioned the program based on process, prices, and anti-immigration bigotry. When this country goes to war, it costs more than just bullets and band-aids. If you aren’t willing to pay the bill, the *full* bill, don’t start wars.

I’m especially proud of the Massachusetts delegation, all of whom understand that the promises we made need to be kept. Here's who we met with recently: , , , ,
