We started going to Wolfe’s Neck in 2020/2021 as it’s a working farm with access to the water and lots of fun activities for the kids. The campground is on a bay so don’t expect waves and sandy beaches but there is great kayaking. General website: [Oceanfront Camping and Cabins | Freeport, Maine](https://www.freeportcamping.com/) Booking site: [Wolfe's Neck Oceanfront Camping](https://www.camplife.com/129/reservation/step1) One of the best things about Wolfe’s Neck is its closeness to other things in Freeport: - **Bowstreet Market**: [https://www.bowstreetmarket.com/](https://www.bowstreetmarket.com/) - You can do all your camp shopping here. Great selection of fish, meat, beers, wine, smores, you name it. It’s about ~10 minute drive from the campground so it’s easy for quick runs - **LL Bean**. Great if you forgot anything for camping - **Tuscan Brick Over Bistro**: [https://www.tuscanbrickovenbistro.com/home](https://www.tuscanbrickovenbistro.com/home) - **Lobster Cooker**: [https://www.thelobstercooker.com/](https://www.thelobstercooker.com/) - **Freeport Werkes** - [https://www.freeportwerkes.com/](https://www.freeportwerkes.com/). Co-working space in town in case you need to work while the kids are at camp. - **EV charging**: You can charge your EV at Wolfe’s Neck for free at the main barn, which is a 10 minute walk from East Bay or 15-20 from other locations. There are sometimes festivals and other events in Freeport so it’s worth checking the calendar. Here are some photos around the place: ![[Pasted image 20250831222553.png]] ![[Pasted image 20250831222602.png]] # Favorite camping spots We’ve stayed a few places around the campground over the years and we’ve settled on staying in West Bay close to the recreation field as the kids love to run around over there. Most face the meadow or trees with limited views of the water. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the bay. - Sites 200 to 218 face the meadow and tend to be a little more spread out - Sites 4xx are around a field and usually a place for RVs and big campers. I wouldn’t pitch a tent here. ### 126 - Comfort Camping They supply a tent and everything you need. I’m not sure if they still use the bell tent anymore — they may have replaced it with something bigger. https://photos.app.goo.gl/dXDrb8GvBmLSKd2BA I think this is the new tent: ![[Pasted image 20250831222714.png]] Nice views of the big meadow. ![[Pasted image 20250831222723.png]] ### 216 TBD ### 225 Pretty big campsite next to an open field that is fun for kicking a ball around or playing wiffle ball. ## Middle Bay We haven’t stayed here but there are good sites in the woods with easy access to the bay and a nice hiking path that takes you over to West Bay. ## West Bay - our favorite area The big Recreation Field is a big draw. Kids can swarm around with other kids and they love it. ### 718 - Narrow site, secluded. Here’s a video during a short rainstorm: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/HTcHzNPZrHZfhNc66](https://photos.app.goo.gl/HTcHzNPZrHZfhNc66) ## 720 & 722 These are best rented together as it’s a big open section. These are some of our favorite spots. ### 724 A little smaller than 726 but still a great spot. I believe it’s open on west side to 722. ### 726 Big wide (but narrow) spot with room for 2 big tents and a place to park your car. Bordered on both sides by trees. ![[Pasted image 20250831222733.png]] ![[Pasted image 20250831222748.png]] ### 802 Right next to the steps the the beach/kayak area. Can be a little busy but not bad. # Farm Camp [https://sean.horgan.net/d/_d3H4GIs7zuo/_su1olbZy#_luDruFg4](https://sean.horgan.net/d/_d3H4GIs7zuo/_su1olbZy#_luDruFg4) # Campers / Trailers While it would be nice to have a big ol RV for camping trips, we just don’t camp enough each year (<=6 times) and we don’t have the room to store something to make it worth it. Instead we got a big 10x14 foot tent (Springbar Skyliner) and we occasionally rent a little trailer. ## Outdoorsy - trailer rentals [Get $50 off your next Outdoorsy trip](https://www.outdoorsy.com/invite/u4ybcg) Here’s a trailer we plan to rent for a trip in 2025: [2022 Taxa Cricket](https://www.outdoorsy.com/rv-rental/hampton_nh/2022_taxa_taxa-trailer_396056-listing) ![[Pasted image 20250831222804.png]] ![[Pasted image 20250831223135.png]]
