Synopsis

Eureka Day is a wildly funny, on-the-pulse satire by Jonathan Spector that explores the tensions within a progressive, private school community when faced with an outbreak of the mumps. The play follows parents who pride themselves on their harmonious, shared values and inclusivity. However, as the school grapples with the health crisis, the community must confront how they handle ideological differences, performative progressiveness, and the breakdown of civil discourse when consensus-based dialogue devolves into conflict.

My Review

Saw with Ali and Cheddi. We missed first ten minutes as I mixed up the theater location and went to Calderwood. Thank god for fast ubers.

The play was super relatable for anyone with kids in a liberal town. This play highlighted what goes wrong when every single viewpoint is considered equal except when they challenge the true sources of power. Performative progressives. It’s a funny and light play, nothing super deep.

We caught some jazz at Wally’s right after.
